The OHAUS Guardian 5000 Hotplate Stirrer is engineered for dependable performance, safety, and straightforward operation in research, academic, and industrial settings. Its Tallboys configuration ensures consistent mixing and stable temperature regulation of the top plate or your sample when used with the optional temperature probe. Heating models feature Single Point Calibration to support multiple setpoints. Five models are available with three different plate sizes to accommodate routine heating and stirring needs.

Applications
This unit is well suited for boiling water, preparing water or oil baths, handling solutions and sample preparation, dissolving buffers and reagents, preparing media, and concentrating samples.

Display
The backlit LCD clearly shows both temperature and speed, while green indicators confirm when the unit is actively heating and stirring. A prominent hot surface light ensures operator awareness, and icons indicate probe usage, Single Point Calibration, and other functions.

Operation
The stirrer operates from 60 to 1600 rpm with a temperature range of ambient +5°C up to 500°C for the ceramic plate or 380°C for the aluminum option. A power cord is included, and stirring models ship with a 1.5-inch (3.8 cm) PTFE-coated stir bar for immediate use.

Construction
Each model includes a probe connection port, and the SmartHousing™ design remains cool to the touch while resisting chemical damage. The unit carries an IP21 ingress protection rating and features a polycarbonate front panel with durable control knobs. A dedicated heater disconnect switch adds safety, while the integrated support rod holder and easy-to-clean ceramic or aluminum top plates simplify everyday use.

Design Features
Safety is emphasized through the hot top indicator light, audible alarms, and the SafetyHeat™ system, which automatically powers down the heater in case of malfunction. The calibration system allows adjustment for three probe and three plate setpoints.
